Five students of Electrical Engineering FT.USU followed and won the national innovation championship that was held in Tidar University of West Java. The student won the first prize after proposing an innovation on oxygen concentration due to covid19 measurement.

Ada kabar prestasi dari kampus kita tercinta nih! Peringkat Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) di lembaga pemeringkatan internasional Times Higher Education World University Rangkings (THE WUR) berada di peringkat 12 universitas terbaik di Indonesia. THE WUR sendiri merupakan pemeringkatan universitas dunia dengan menggunakan lima indikator, yaitu teaching, research, citations, industry, income dan international outlook. Ada 1.600 universitas dari 99 negara masuk dalam daftar tersebut.
Melansir data dari laman THE WUR, dapat dijabarkan peringkat USU di universitas terbaik dunia masuk ke 1501+ atau 1799, dengan total skor 10,4-18,3. Pada peringkat nasional, dari 18 perguruan tinggi yang masuk ke dalam pemeringkatan THE WUR, USU melesat menduduki posisi 12. Sebelumnya juga, USU telah berhasil meraih akreditasi Unggul dari BAN-PT. Pelatihan LAKIP dan SPIP di Lingkungan Fakultas Teknik USU" bertempat di Thong’s Inn Hotel & Convention. Pelatihan dilaksanakan selama 2 hari berturut-turut pada tanggal 7-8 Oktober 2022.
Menghadirkan 2 narasumber yang ahli dibidangnya, diantaranya:
- Emerson Pascawira Sinulingga, ST, M.Sc. Ph.D (Direktorat Digitalisasi dan Integrasi Sistem)

Telah dilaksanakan Rapat Dewan Pertimbangan Fakultas (DPF) Teknik USU pada Kamis, (06/10/2022) yang bertempat di Ruang Rapat Fakultas Teknik USU. Acara dimulai pada pukul 10.00 WIB dengan agenda salah satunya Restrukturisasi Laboratorium di lingkungan FT USU.
Rapat menghasilkan Ketua dan Sekretaris DPF Teknik USU terpilih dan sekaligus dilakukan pelantikan, selamat Kepada Prof. Dr. Seri Maulina.
Anti Corruption Movement in Engineering Faculty

Pada Rabu, (05/10/2022) telah dilaksanakan kegiatan Sosialisasi Program Reformasi Birokrasi ZI-WBK (Zona Integritas Wilayah Bebas Korupsi) di Lingkungan Fakultas Teknik USU, yang bertempat di Aula FT USU. Dengan narasumber:
- Cholina Trisa Siregar, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Sp.KMB (Fakultas Keperawatan-Ilmu Keperawatan)
- Dr. Nurman Achmad, S.Sos., M.Soc.Sc (Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik-Antropologi Sosial)
Acara dimulai pada pukul 09.00 WIB yang diawali dengan kata sambutan dari Dekan FT USU (Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM dan dilanjutkan pemaparan materi dari Narasumber serta tanya jawab dari peserta yang diikuti oleh Dekanat FT USU, Dosen di lingkungan FT USU, Tenaga Pendidik, Staff Ahli dan Mahasiswa FT USU.
ZI (Zona Integritas) merupakan Predikat yang diberikan kepada instansi pemerintah yang pimpinan dan jajarannya mempunyai komitmen untuk mewujudkan WBK/WBBM melalui reformasi birokrasi, khususnya dalam hal pencegahan korupsi dan peningkatan kualitas pelayanan publik. Sedangkan WBK (Wilayah Bebas Korupsi) merupakan predikat yang diberikan kepada suatu unit kerja yang memenuhi sebagian besar kriteria dalam mengimplementasikan 6 area perubahan program reformasi birokrasi (manajemen perubahan, penataan tatalaksana, penataan sistem manajemen SDM, penguatan pengawasan, dan penguatan akuntabilitas kinerja) dan hasil survey eksternal Indeks Persepsi Korupsi Baik, serta telah menyelesaikan tindak lanjut Hasil Pemeriksaan oleh Internal dan Eksternal).
Dengan adanya kegiatan sosialisasi ini dapat mengimplementasikan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan bukan hanya dalam administratif demi membangun lingkungan USU dan FT USU khususnya yang lebih berintegritas dan bebas dari tindakan korupsi.

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Desa Binaan Fakultas Teknik USU tahun 2022 merupakan program yang pelaksaan nya bertempat di Kabupaten Langkat, Desa Sambirejo, Sumatera Utara. Pelaksanaan dimulai pada bulan Agustus 2022 dan berakhir pada bulan September 2022. Terdapat 3 program utama dalam pengabdian masyarakat FT USU, diantaranya:
- Pembangunan Irigasi Air Tanah Dangkal untuk Meningkatkan Produktivitas Usaha Tani Desa Sambirejo Kabupaten Langkat, yang diketuai Ir. Nismah Panjaitan, ST, MT, Ph.D, IPU
- Teknologi Tepat Guna Mesin Perontok Padi Untuk Meningkatkan Produktifitas dan Kerja Petani di Desa Sambirejo Kabupaten Langkat, yang diketuai Dr. Ir. Fahmi, ST., M.Sc, IPM
- Pemanfaatan Alat Pencacah dalam Penambahan Jerami Padi dan Bonggol Jagung sebagai Pakan Lengkap Ternak di Desa Sambirejo Kabupaten Langkat, yang diketuai Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, MT.
Pada Selasa (27/09/2022) dilakukan sosialisasi sekaligus serah terima alat yang berlangsung di Aula kantor Desa Sambirejo. Acara turut dihadiri Dekan FT USU, Kepala program studi di lingkungan FT USU, anggota kelompok pengabdian masyarakat dan mahasiswa FT USU. Dalam kata sambutan Dekan FT (Dr. Ir. Fahmi S.T., M.Sc., IPM) menyampaikan agar pengabdian berdampak di Desa Sambirejo dan bermanfaat bagi masyarakar khususnya kelompok tani, "Pengabdian masyarakat bisa dilakukan dimana", pengabdian masyarakat adalah wajib baik dari institusi dan merupakan tri dharma dari perguruan. Pengabdian jika dilakukan di suatu tempak dampaknya akan terasa. Semoga kegiatan ini berlanjut dengan baik dan bermanfaat bagi desa sambirejo dan kelompok-kelompok tani serta menjadi nilai ibadah juga bagi kita semua".
Desa Sambirejo memiliki potensi pertanian yang unggul diantaranya padi dan tanaman-tanaman palawija. Terdapat 3 kelompok petani yang aktif turut membangun potensi pertanian Desa Sambirejo, diantaranya: Tani abadi, Karya tani, dan Suka tani. Jefri Wahyuni selaku kepala Desa Sambirejo merasa terhormat dan menyambut baik program pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan FT USU, "Adalah suatu kehormatan untuk kami Desa Sambirejo sebagai desa binaan. Dan tidak hanya judul tetapi menjadi contoh desa binaan di Binjai dan membawa nama besar FT USU. Hubungan desa dengan FT USU berjalan dengan baik. Desa sambirejo juga nantinya mempunyai rencana membuat pembinaan dan pelatihan mesin untuk anak-anak serta remaja-remaja desa yang putus sekolah agar mempunyai kegiatan positif dan terjauhkan dari penggunaan narkoba".

Ada kabar gembira nih buat kita! USU ditetapkan menjadi PTN dengan 'Akreditasi Unggul' pada tanggal 27 September 2022 s.d 27 Februari 2023. Berdasarkan Pemantauan Evaluasi Peringkat Akreditasi (PEPA), USU juga dinyatakan lolos pantau, maka sertifikat Akreditasi Unggul USU akan berlaku hingga 5 tahun ke depan!

Dosen Fakultas Teknik turut mengikutsertakan mahasiswa dalam melakukan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan memasang pompa air bertenaga surya di Pondok Pesantren UMAR BIN AL KHATHTHAB beralamat di Jalan Durung 1. Medan, Terjun, Kec. Medan Marelan, Kota Medan. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat yang bersumber dari Dana Pengabdian Masyarakat Lembaga Pengabdian Masyarakat USU dan merupakan salah satu dari kegiatan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi dilakukan mengaplikasikan teknologi panel surya dalam penyediaan energi listrik bersumber dari PLTS untuk menjalankan pompa air pada Pondok Pesantren. TIM yang melakukan pengabdian ini terdiri dari 4 (empat) orang dosen Fakultas Teknik USU, yaitu Ir. Ferry Rahmat Astianta Bukit, ST.,MT, Ir. Arman Sani, MT, Ryandika Afdila ST., M.EngSc , Ivo Andika Hasugian, ST., MT., dan melibatkan 6 (enam) orang mahasiswa yang berasal dari Prodi Teknik Elektro.
Tim melakukan serah terima kepada pengelola pesantren untuk memanfaatkan PLTS yang telah dibangun ini dengan baik. Pengelola pesantren sangat berterimakasih atas kegiatan ini, khususnya kepada Tim yang telah melakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat karena sangat membantu, terutama dalam mengurangi biaya pemakaian energi listrik yang harus mereka keluarkan setiap bulannya.
Workshop on Graduate Outcome Assessment

Telah dilaksanakan Workshop Sistem Pengukuran Capaian Pembelajaran Lulusan pada Selasa (09/08/2022) yang bertempat di Aula Teknik USU. Workshop dibuka dengan kata sambutan dari Dekan Fakultas Teknik USU (Dr. Ir. Fahmi, S.T., M.Sc., IPM). Berlangsung mulai dari pukul 09.00 WIB - 16.00 WIB dengan narasumber Dr. Singgih Saptadi, S.T., M.T. (Dosen Teknik Industri UNDIP) yang merupakan Task Force IABEE & OBE FT, Universitas Diponegoro.
Workshop turut dihadiri WD I FT USU (Prof. Dr. Ir. Renita Manurung, MT), WD II FT USU (Tigor Hamonangan Nasution, ST., MT ), WD III FT USU (Ir. Nismah Panjaitan, ST., MT., Ph.D., IPU), jajaran Kepala Prodi di lingkungan FT USU dan dosen pendidik di lingkungan FT USU. Workshop ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan sistem pembelajaran di setiap prodi lingkungan FT USU secara sistem terukur dan berstandar internasional. Di lingkungan FT USU terdapat 2 prodi yang tengah mengikuti program akreditasi internasional IABEE yaitu Teknik Kimia dan Teknik Mesin. Dengan dilaksanakan workshop ini, sistem pembelajaran di lingkungan FT USU dapat menerapkan Capaian Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah hingga Capaian Pembelajaran Lulusan dengan mengikuti perkembangan teknologi.

SPBE EVALUATION PROGRAM

DTE Lecturer acted as one of the invited speakers on Asistensi Pelaksanaan Evaluasi SPBE Tahun 2022 program, conducted by Ministry of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform (Kementrian Pendayagunaan Aparatur Negara dan Reformasi Birokrasi) Republic of Indonesia, that was conducted on August 11-12, 2022 in Four Points by Sheraton Medan. The program was opened by the Deputy Assistant of Perumusan Kebijakan dan Koordinasi Penerapan SPBE, KEMENPANRB, Mr. Cahyono Tri Birowo, S.T., M.TI.

Since DTE has planned the general accreditation proposal to IABEE, DTE followed Learning Outcome Assessment Workshop conducted by Faculty of Enginering. IABEE Team consists of Mr.Arman Sani, Mr. M. Zulfin, Mr. Hendra Zulkarnain, Mr. Ferry RA Bukit, Mr. Ryandika and Program Coordinator. The workshop was guided by Dr. Singgih Saptadi from University of Diponegoro.
NEW SEMESTER DTE MEETING

DTE performed new semester meeting with the agenda of teaching load distribution, last semester review, having gifts for pension lecturers (Mr. Pane and Mr. Eddy Warman, Appreciation certificates for Mr. Rahmad Fauzi, Mr. Hendra Zulkarnain and Mr. Ferry RA Bukit for guiding students to obtain cum laude marks. Also we congratulated Dr. Rahmad Fauzi who passed doctoral examination at the same day. Meeting also discussed The sixth ELTICOM conference and The 5th Talenta CEST conference that will be hosted by DTE this year.
PJB ACADEMY AND DTE MEETING ON DETAIL TIMELINE ON SOLAR CELL TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

Following the MoA agreement on Training and Research Activities, DTE and PJB Academy discussed detail plan on solar cell installation certification training to enable services to customers within Sumatera region. Meeting outlined the agreed timeline for material preparation.

DTE MEETING; END OF SEMESTER EVALUATION

Meeting in Ruang Rapat DTE was to evaluate the final assessment of Semester B 2022. This meeting was lead by Soeharwinto, ST., MT. Meeting also urged lecturers to complete assessments by June 24, 2022 by entering the student mark into portal.usu.ac.id. Assessment also considered valuation for learning outcome so that the graduation profile statistic can be mined.

Periodical Enginering Faculty Meeting (Rapat Kerja Fakultas) evaluated examination and lecturing for Sem B 21/22, student completing time, MBKM for next semester, performance index parameters, and strategies. Meeting is attended by Dean of Engineering, all vice deans, coordinator and secretary of study programs within engineering faculty. Meeting started at 09.00 WIB till 13.30 in Ruang Rapat FT USU Lt 2.

Ilmi M.Sc. Discussion was also attended by Ir. Nismah Panjaitan ST., MT., Ph.D as vice dean III, engineering lecturers and students. Electrical Engineering Department (Departemen Teknik Elektro) congratulates DTE students who graduated on June 6, 2022, we wish you all have a very bright future and have best chance to dedicate your knowledge for this country. In order to keep the solidarity, DTE performed halal bi halal by inviting seniors to join the celebration. Seniors that attended the halal bi halal .including Dr. Natsir Amin, Mr. Sugiharto Yusuf, Mr. Panusur L Tobing, Mr. Ahri Bahriun. Lecturers and staffs were also present. The old days seems repeated. By the end of the meering, the head of DTE presents the DTE upcoming program to provide minimal standard for lecturing materials as baseline for teaching students. At first stage, it is targeted 30 subjects have the materials.
A DTE LECTURER GIVES TRAINING IN BBPLK MEDAN

Muhammad Safril, ST., MT., one of DTE Lecturers, becomes one of trainers in the Soft Skill Competency Based Training that is conducted by the Balai Besar Pengembangan Latihan Kerja (BBPLK) or currently named as Balai Besar Pelatihan Vokasi dan Produktivitas (BBPVP) Medan. The 20 hours training contains of 6 unit competencies and are followed by the newly trained workers with high school background.

On April 20, the team participated in Dissemination Event/National Event of Fabrica Intelligente that was conducted by the Università degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi, one of project member, in Cluster VENUE

The dean engineering conducted meeting with the study program coordinators to form a panel to prepare fast-track program for many terms improvement within engineering faculty. The STRI or Surat Tanda Registrasi Insinyur (Engineer Registration Letter) is given to the pofessional engineer who passed the competency assessment crtification body of PII. Electrical Engineering Department, Lecturers and staffs gathered and had lunch together to welcome the Holy month of Ramadhan. One of the lecturers, Mr. Surya Tarmizi Kasim (pink-blue dressed) acts as the chef (his hobby), cooking delicious "Aceh-style Kari Kambing" along with other dishes. The gathering is frequently performed to tighthen the solidarity among lecturers and staffs within Electrical Engineering Department. DTE suggests the "RPS" update amid the event to increase e-learning content. E-learning inspection is performed monthly to ensure the teaching performances.
DISIPLINARY COMMITTEE MEETING

Disciplinary committee of Engineering Faculty examining the alleged breaches of discipline by a student who falsifying documents for thesis presentation. All students should follow the academic regulation and perform good conduct during their study period within Universitas Sumatera Utara. Breaches on the regulation lead to penalty at least one semester suspension with additional corrective actions. The commitee comprises of dean, vice deans, and all study program coordinators.

UPDATING THE WORKING PLAN

The Dean of Engineering Faculty invited all study programs to discuss the updated working plan for study programs in engineering faculty, as Universitas Sumatera Utara updates its target based on the primary performance indicator (IKU) and world class university program. Additionally, university plans to increase school fees to adapt changes in the educational environment and demand. Department plans to socialize the working plan to laboratory and lecturers some day next coming week.The meeting runs from 15.00 to 17.00 pm.

Three DTE Lecturers are assigned to attend the international meeting ERASMUS+ KA2 CBHE "Master Degree in Industry 4.0/Ind4.0 on April 20-22, 2022 in Universita Degli Studi Guglielmo Marconi, Rome-Italy. The project has been awarded with a grant from the European Framework of ERASMUS+ KA2 Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education Programme. InD4.0 aims to deliver an MSc Programme in Industry 4.0 that will be offered by the Higher Education Institutions from Cambodia, Indonesia and Malaysia all belonging to the ASEAN region.

Fahmi, MSc, IPM, AseanEng yang berhasil lulus seleksi administrasi Calon Asessor Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri bidang Teknik, bersama beberapa rekan lain di Fakultas Teknik. Seperti diketahui sebelumnya, DTE mengajukan beberapa dosen yang pernah terlibat di proses akreditasi IABEE untuk mendaftar sebagai calon asessor LAM Teknik. Dan pada Batch 2 ini, satu dosen DTE berhasil lolos di seleksi administrasi. Semoga kesuksesan berlanjut pada proses selanjutnya.

DTE COLLABORATION POINT

Teknik Elektro FT. USU - Ikatan Alumni Teknik Elektro (IATE) FT.USU mencanangkan lokasi kolaborasi mahasiswa, civitas akademik dan alumni dengan membentuk suasana kegiatan mahasiswa yang berahabat dengan membangun DTE collaboration points di halaman gedung utama Departemen Teknik Elektro. Fasilitas ini memungkinkan kegiatan mahasiswa dilakukan di tempat terbuka dengan siklus udara yang baik. Melalui kuliah tamu bertajuk "Constructive Communication", Ketua IATE, M. Ikhsan menyampaikan pemahaman kepada mahasiswa akan pentingnya "komunikasi yang membangun dan efektif", dimana budaya komunikasi yang bersifat stopper dan yang tidak memberikan solusi, harus diperbaharui guna mengefektifkan komunikasi. Hal ini diperlukan sebagai applied skill saat mahasiswa terjun ke dunia kerja. Sebagai langkah lanjutan terhubung dengan dibangunnya DTE collaboration points, diselenggarakan "Inspirational quotes competition” diantara mahasiswa Teknik Elektro, dimana akan dipilih 8 -10 pemenang, yang nantinya "quotes" tersebut dipasang pada setiap point (saung) yang telah dibangun, disertai peresmiannya. UNIVERSAL ROBOTIC TRAINING

On 11th & 12th January 2022, Universitas Sumatera Utara held an on-campus event titled “Erasmus+ Industry 4.0 for Vocational and Education Training Program”. The objective of the event was to test the newly added equipment and to train the lab assistants and technicians to operate the new equipment, which later will be used to facilitate the new Vocational and Education Training Program in USU. The equipment and the training program are funded by European Union’s Erasmus+ Program with Project Number 610455-EPP-1-2019-1-MY-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP. Detail report is here.
